#OffshoreMentalHealth: Informal Catch-Ups

This month, our #OffshoreMentalHealth campaign shines a spotlight on the transformative power of "Informal Catch-Ups." At SLPE, we've embraced these casual gatherings as a vital tool for bolstering workplace cohesion and enhancing mental health. Dive into the details below to learn how our weekly informal catch-ups significantly benefit all team members. If you're seeking effective strategies to promote mental wellbeing in the offshore sector, keep reading for some valuable insights.
Every Wednesday morning at SLPE is marked by our 'Coffee Morning'—a relaxed and supportive environment where team members come together. It's a time not only to enjoy good-quality coffee but also to share successes, voice concerns, and extend mutual support. These sessions embody transparency, honesty, and camaraderie, blending discussions on work-related achievements with personal wellbeing.
During these gatherings, team members encourage each other to:
• Share personal and professional successes
• Celebrate good news
• Ask questions and encourage open dialogue
• Discuss any concerns affecting mental wellbeing
• Offer and seek guidance on various issues
Originally initiated during the Covid-19 lockdown, the positive impact of these informal catch-ups was so profound that we made them a permanent fixture. These sessions have become a cornerstone of our mental health strategy, helping to alleviate stress, prevent burnout, and foster a supportive community within the workplace.
We strongly encourage others in the offshore sector to adopt this simple yet effective practice. Whether it's a weekly coffee morning or a similar informal gathering, the benefits of creating a space for open and supportive dialogue are huge. We have found that such initiatives not only enhance team spirit but also contribute significantly to overall mental health and workplace satisfaction.
As we continue to promote #OffshoreMentalHealth, stay tuned for more updates and shared experiences from SLPE. Together, we can create a future where mental wellbeing is ingrained in the culture of our industry. By embracing practices like informal catch-ups, we take another significant step towards this goal. Join us in making mental health a priority in every offshore workplace - together, we can make a difference.
